Picture taken from a bridge going over the depot. There are about 20 parallel tracks, most of them made the shot. There are 8 trains parked here at various positions but all in parallel. They are also divided into neat groups of four by one empty track in the middle. I've played with the colors a bit and given everything a brownish-red hue.

At the corner of an intersection of small roads without sidewalks stands an orange pole, to which are attached not one, not two, not three, but four parabolic traffic mirrors at different angles, hinting at a chaotic little intersection.

The shrine's gate is parallel to the road in the foreground - I was standing on the other side and at an acute angle as I took the pic - the dark wooden shrine is at a 90-degree angle. There are large but because it is winter barren trees. The midday sun is slightly backlighting the scene. The sky is slightly overcast but the sun is coming through strong.

A round iron or brass bowl with ornamental patterns on its side. It's about 50cm or 24" deep and about 1m or 3ft in diameter. It's fed water by a fountain that runs right up to the edge. The bowl sits on a foundation furnished from rocks. In the background are mostly trees that allow in one small window a look at what's behind, i.e. a pond and a small shrine on an island in it.

It's the same shot but the weather is a bit sunnier and somebody has put red flowers into the water.

A close-up of a orange-yellow tulip in a flower bed in front of a walled in residence. The bed has been neatly plowed and the row of tulips that extends from the one at the front all the way to the wall in the background were clearly planted about a foot or 30cm apart. There are four parallel rows of tulips all about similarly equidistant. It reminded me of the Dutch tulip fields at De Keukenhof, where they cover acres and acres with dense tulips. This is clearly the diet version of that.

Yes, it's pretty if you plaster the country with #CherryTrees but have you ever thought about the dangers of all the petals on the ground and the veritable army of sweepers it takes to get rid of them once they're on the ground? A road sign on a parkway lined with cherry trees in bloom but lots of petals have hit the ground already. The sign's text just warns of cherry trees with an illustration of a tree throwing its oversized blossoms at a truck. The idea appears to be that trucks need to watch out for branches as well as slippery surfaces after rain.

A pond that looks more greenish than blueish due to foliage and bird poop. Around the edge is a small fence consisting of wooden poles about knee high connected by a single rope. This shot has one of those poles at the center, on which sits a noise maker, i.e. a big crow. Invading the shot from above are a few branches of a cherry tree in bloom.

I don't actually know if it's a man crow. I just figured lady crows wouldn't make that much noise.

On a bright blue-sky day, a picture of the railway tracks and maintenance facilities of Ōmiya station in the background. We actually don't see the actual tracks because of the angle but the shot captured an arch that spans over the tracks holding the power lines. There is a bit of lens flare due to the sun shining almost at me when I took the picture.

Picture taken from a position to the left of the gate and the lens is slightly angled upwards. The gate is wooden, painted a faded shade of red. There is some intricate joint work done on the underside of the roof. There is a masonry wall to either side, some trees partially made the shot, and just over the wall is the roof of the temple.

A feature of cemeteries in Japan is a mount or gallery of disused headstones and/or Buddhist idols. This is a picture of one such place. It's a rough circle of a diameter of roughly 7m or 21ft. It consists of stones of various sizes arranged in concentric rings around a Buddha statue at the center. The image is in black and white.

The picture includes a stone torii gate at the entrance to what should be a park but is really just a sandy pitch to play ball on. Centered in the distance is another gate and the actual shrine some 320 ft or 100m away. The color balance has been changed to give the image a bright blue sky and a slight blue hue on everything else.

A couple of red wooden lanterns in posts in front of a stone torii gate in front of a smaller shrine. I crouched down to make the shot so the lens is angled upwards and only capturing the top two thirds of lanterns and gate and the shrine with just a bit of its masonry foundation.
