Is anyone using a #raspberrypi as a laptop replacement? I backed the Pilet project by @soulscircuit recently and I'm curious about the idea of a modular and affordable solution for mobile computing.

Significant event for many, many reasons. Especially the fact Sophie Wilson spoke at it considering what is going on in the UK right now. One of the world's most widely used chips wouldn't exist without her contribution.
QEMU 10 improves RISC-V machines and brings accelerated Apple graphics

#Apple software support for my old mbp ended November last year, and I have been pondering about a non Apple #arm replacement for a while, but I’m not sure #linux is quite ready yet with the qualcomm x elite yet. And finally I realised that I could just install #debian on the old laptop, it still runs fine. I must say its nice to be back on desktop linux after 10 years, much has improved! #kde
Windows 11 for ARM runs perfectly on iPad Air M2: EU and JIT make it possible
The Digital Markets Act forces Apple to approve alternative app stores. UTM with JIT is now available there. The first Windows 11 experiments are underway.

@marioguzman I've been thinking about getting a Surface Laptop 7 with Snap Dragon just to dip my toes in #ARM on the #Windows side, but I feel like I would hardly use it. I would more prefer a x86 computer so I can keep my legacy x86 VMs running.
@marioguzman I've been trying to find out if its #ARM or #x86
Happy Birthday to the #Arm Architecture!
Today marks 40 years since the very first ARM chip was powered on; a major milestone in computing history. It has been a remarkable journey ever since. I still vividly remember purchasing the first commercial ARM-based computer around 1988, just a few months after Acorn Computers brought it to market. At the time, it was nothing short of revolutionary.

There are a number of mainboard options available for Ampere Altra ARM-based servers.
I would ideally like to buy a 128 core or higher 1U or 2U rackmount machine for running a (if possible, type 1) hypervisor and several Linux and FreeBSD instances on top.
Which boards/vendors can you recommend, which should be avoided? Are there any ARM-based alternatives you could recommend?
Ubuntu 25.04: Better installer, support for Intel Arc, new PDF viewer
Ubuntu Linux 25.04 has been released. As usual for the middle release between two LTS versions, there are some changes to the basic system and the desktops.

I think we've covered all the hypervisors now ;-)
Have you ever looked at an NVMe drive and thought to yourself, ‘Hey, this would be 31.7% cooler with HDMI ports?’
