Other performance metrics include removing #protections for #EndangeredSpecies that have *recovered* & restoring “historic [racist] names” to #landmarks. On his first day back in office, #Trump stripped #NorthAmerica’s tallest mountain of its #Indigenous name, #Denali, & restored its previous title, Mount McKinley.

It’s gonna be changed back soon, same with #Denali #gulfofmexico
Denali tonight at 6:45pm. A pretty nice way to wind down the day. #Alaska #Anchorage #BearValley #MyAlaskaWx #Viewfromthedeck #Denali #Mountains
Such a unique landscape along Tr'at'egheth No' (Lower Tanana for “From Cottonwood Creek”), more commonly known as the Savage River, in Denali National Park. This was taken in early September, just as the tundra groundcover started turning brilliant shades of red and gold for fall.

New header photo: it’s been an honor to spend a lot of energy in recent weeks organizing to protect our local national park-centered community, including those who have been illegally fired, those facing personal or institutional attacks from the m*sk regime, and the subarctic ecosystem we all love.
This is me speaking to a gathering of 80-90 people at the #Denali park entrance last weekend.
It’s been a time.

This morning's weather report. Yep, it's still Denali, and always will be. #Alaska #Anchorage #BearValley #Denali #ViewFromTheDeck #MyAlaskaWx
DENALI!!! Always and forever!
Chris Noel is the mayor of Denali Borough and lives in the forested neighborhood of McKinley Village, which sometimes shows up as Denali Park on online maps. He’s very accustomed to the dual identity that has long swirled around this region, the vast national park that defines it and the 20,310-foot crown jewel at its center.
But in this snow-shrouded land where the sun appears for only a few hours daily in winter, he and others say there is no disputing that the name of that mountain — North America’s tallest — is the Indigenous word Denali.

This is one of my favorite late-winter/early-spring hikes in the Alaska Interior. The high ridgeline offers an incredible view of Denali, towering 70 miles away. Thanks to the strong valley winds, much of the trail often stays snow-free even in winter.

#Republican senator #LisaMurkowski is proposing legislation in direct defiance of President Donald #Trump.
Trump announced in his inaugural speech that he would seek to rename #Alaska's #Denali as part of his day-one actions, a move that would override the will of the state's #Indigenous population and its elected leaders.
Denali.
It's not anything else.
"The name Denali means ‘The High One’ in Koyukon Athabaskan, a name used by Indigenous Alaskans for centuries."

Bonus pts: do it for #Denali/#MtMcKinley too!
BTW, I've had it with Google. Have been using Mozilla Firefox since it was born but have diverted to Chrome on occasion... no more.
Have used DuckDuckGo in the past--am back to it now on a permanent basis.
Moving from gmail to Proton tonight. That comes with a Calendar (goodbye, Google!) and I also have one in Evernote that I might try.
What else? What are you de-Googling this week?

Wow. I hoped #GoogleMaps wouldn't change the name of #GulfofMexico, but #MtMcKinley is just pandering.
The people of #Alaska don't want the change. They changed it to #Denali 40 years ago.
#AppleMaps has the chance to not pander to #Trump. My hopes aren't high.
