Many institutions and companies don’t invest in solar pv because they think it will take decades to recover the cost…but really they are missing a trick.

#Norwich University of the Arts have just had a big install (186 panels) that is projected to pay for itself within just 7 years.

Greater Anglia has been the UK’s most punctual train operator for over two years, achieving a 94.1% annual performance rate to 31 March 2025, with seven routes exceeding 95%. Despite challenges like extreme weather, routes such as #Norwich to Great Yarmouth (98.4%) and Marks Tey to #Sudbury (98.1%) delivered exceptional results. Using the stricter “Time to 3” measure, GA still achieved 93.9%. The strong performance is credited to new #trains, infrastructure improvements, and close work with Network Rail. GA also recorded the UK’s best “on time” results for seven consecutive quarters and consistently ranks among the lowest for cancellations. These results exceed GA’s original franchise targets and have earned it multiple industry awards, including Passenger Operator of the Year 2024 and Train Operator of the Year 2025.

Belatedly just seen there was a #Tesla protest in #Norwich UK today…

The comments from the readership of our local newspaper (EDP) were the usual rightwing, leftie bashing nonsense…i know this does not compare to the division in the US right now, but it’s terrifying seeing how many #Musk supporters I share airspace with.

I may be an EV driver, but I’ve never aspired to own a Tesla. This position seems sadly unthinkable to EDP readership.

Took the kids to the beach in #Cromer today. We went entirely by public transport from #Norwich.

Our train tickets were £11.25 for 3 of us (me disabled rail card).

We weren’t sure about how much we would use the bus, so made the mistake of buying singles. Cost £12.50 to get across city to train station and back again.

But overall not a bad price for day out.

Cromer was completely congested with traffic.

How do we persuade more folks to use #PublicTransport? It’s already there.

Greater #Anglia has launched Spring Hare Fares offering off-peak return tickets from £7, with children travelling for just £2 each. These fares are available for travel between 8 April and 10 June, with tickets purchasable between 8 April and 22 April. Prices include £7 for routes like #Norwich to #Sheringham, £14 for #Cambridge to #London, £22 for #Chelmsford to #Ipswich, and £28 for Chelmsford to Norwich. The fares can be booked online or via the Greater Anglia app with no booking fees. Hare Fares are valid for standard off-peak return tickets only. Families can also benefit from the offer during the Easter holidays, and Greater Anglia provides a range of other value fares, such as GroupSave, London evening fares, and Club 50 discounts. For the best value, customers are encouraged to book in advance.

I am so excited by this news about #UltraAccess for #disabled and SEN viewers! This could truly revolutionise and personalise tv viewing across the spectrum.

Rebecca Atkinson is a fellow #Norwich resident who does amazing work with #ToyLikeMe to enable disabled kids to see themselves represented.

Let’s hope this soon becomes norm across streaming.

Greater #Anglia (GA) has been named Operator of the Year at the Spotlight #Rail Awards 2025, marking its third national "operator of the year" title in seven months, following wins at the National Rail Awards and Rail Business Awards. GA has been the UK's most punctual operator since April 2023, with annual performance at 94.2% on the public performance measure (PPM). It has revamped its fleet with new, comfortable trains featuring Wi-Fi, plug points, air conditioning, and improved #accessibility. GA also offers additional services, quicker journey times, and direct routes like #Norwich to #Stansted. GA was also a finalist in the Net Zero Pioneer and Corporate Social Responsibility awards. Managing Director Martin Beable praised staff and key partners for their contributions. In the past year, GA has won multiple awards for punctuality, fleet achievement, and sustainability.

Happy birthday to... us! #Norwich #Amiga Group is EIGHT years old today. I fondly recall that Saturday evening at the Coachmakers Arms pub, where three of us met up to discuss all things Amiga and about how great it would be to hold an actual local Amiga event one day.

I guess with over 1000 Facebook group members and 51 'proper' group meets behind us (not to mention the many other events we've been part of), we've probably ticked that box.

Roll on Thursday for our 52nd meet, and a celebration of our latest anniversary...

It was a very hot day in June 2021 when we visited the #Norwich Underground Street.

The ‘street’ is a few of the properties that used to be at street level several hundred years ago in Castle Meadow.

It’s well worth a visit!

There are a few undercrofts in the city that are accessible during Heritage Week in September every year (eg. Dragon Hall now the National Writing Centre) or there’s Bedfords and the Bridewell Museum.

But the Underground Street is the best!
