One of the features I really like that differentiates Sync from OneDrive, Google Drive or Dropbox is their use of "zero-knowledge" authentication: they don't store your encryption key and cannot decrypt your files without your knowledge.
This policy does add some processing overhead. Years ago, I sometimes found file synchronization slow. But these days, I find it works transparently in the background as it should.

So sick of #microsoft Just wanted to grab a file from my OneDrive on my work system, but they had to authenticate it was me.
Off to the authenticator app.
Retrieve and Input the code.
“Welcome. You can now change your password.”
Didn’t ask to. No option to use my current (up to date) password.
Changing it would require changing it on 6 other systems (including consoles).
Just NO. Bugger off!
Moving everything off OneDrive to a different cloud and then I’m wiping it.
Had enough of their stupid unnecessary security shit when you just want to log in on a secure server with your secure password.
Already cancelled Office.
Installed Linux Mint on two systems so far, will do the others this week and keep one WinBlows system for dictation only.

Here we go again, another Microsoft goodie. After opening Onedrive and clicking a folder I get this popup. But if I choose "Not now", I can simply continue working. Genius!

OneDrive spinnt immer öfters heftig rum, insbesondere mit geteilten und im Explorer eingebundenen Ordnern, die plötzlich nicht mehr richtig eingebunden sind. Die dann nicht mehr eingebundenen und lokal vorliegende Ordner sollen dann neu auf den eigenen Account hochgeladen werden.
Beispiel:
1) Nutzer 1 teilt Ordner_1 mit 600 GB mit mir und dieser wird im Explorer eingebunden.
2) Der Ordner wird plötzlich zu Ordner_1-PC_Name und zusätzlich taucht eine Verknüpfung zum Ordner auf, die online bzw. im Browser zum Ordner führt.
3) Der nun umbenannte Ordner wird nun wieder hochgeladen und sprengt den eigenen Speicher bei OneDrive.
Das kommt nun immer öfters vor und nervt tierisch.
Jetzt wird eben erst mal alles neu runtergeladen auf die neue SSD. Mal schauen, wie hoch der Leidensdruck sein muss, bis ich auch da einen Wechsel weg von Microsoft in Betracht ziehe. 
Zum Screenshot: Eigentlich wird gerade der erste Teil von 4-6 TB heruntergeladen.

Does anyone here use #Microsoft #OneDrive? I need help with something extremely basic. I want to automatically back up anything placed in my standard documents and pictures folders. Is there somewhere in OneDrive where I specify what exactly is backed up and synced with other devices? Currently OneDrive is using c:\Users\MyAccountName\OneDrive
Microsoft will change the naming of OneDrive folder links from March 2025: New links will contain the name of the source.

Just need to move some left over files from #OneDrive and convert an #Excel sheet to #LibreOffice, which contains a macro that needs to be rewritten, and I won’t have to renew my Office subscription!
That means that later this year I won’t be using Microsoft stuff anymore. Google has been shown the door earlier this year. Feels good!
OneDrive findet es eine lustige Idee, plötzlich alle ausgeklammerten Ordner herunterladen zu wollen. Nur ist dafür lokal gar kein Platz vorhanden. Einflussnahme auf die Ordnerauswahl verbietet sich das Ding aber nun, bevor nicht alles synchronisiert ist. Nur wird diese nicht abgeschlossen werden können.
Das kann ja heiter werden.
