I want to share this: Currently I live in #Cambodia, #PhnomPenh. Recently there was an #earthquake in #Myanmar. Cambodia is quite far away from Myanmar, but still some skyscrapers were very slightly shaking. In #Bankok, #Thailand one high rise building under construction entirely collapsed. Of course in Myanmar the damage was the heaviest, with lots of historic sites and cities completely destroyed.
Thousands of people died. Idk how much people cared in Europe about it, but here they do a lot.

Old man blue sky river

An evening where a sudden change to rainy clouds added heavy blue tone to the Ton-Le Sap river walk.

And some angry skies, indeed...for those who spot such pareidolian patterns.

But the evening dinner boats are ready for an evening with some colourful partying on the river.

“In the first hours of the #KhmerRouge entering #PhnomPenh, there was celebration, everyone running around and waving #flags. It looked like it was going to be peaceful. But soon we began to hear disturbing news from other parts of the city that they were telling people to get out of their houses and go into the countryside for the agrarian #revolution.”

Seeing the film in ‘85 it would never occur to me I’d actually work with a survivor of the Killing Fields & Pol Pot.

A spot to enjoy the slow, relaxing hours before sunset

The riverside walk along the west side of Ton Le Sap river and east of Sisowath Quay blvd stretches nearly 4 kilometers. That is past the junction where Ton Le Sap joins the mighty Mekong river in front of the Royal Square and the Royal Palace.

It is a nice walk, and deeply needed when the day is hot and the sun is beating down. There is always a cooling breeze there. And for people who learns and experience places and cities by walking, fresh, moving air is always welcome.

In the evening, the riverside fills up by locals socializing, playing, exercising, eating, drinking, dating and selling. It is hard to say if it is more lively there than in the old town behind Sisowath Quay, or the heavy trafficked river filled with boats on the other side.

It is well worth spending some time there to see and understand Phnom Penh, the capital of Cambodia.
