Last night's #cocktail was a Vesper
3 oz gin
1 oz vodka
1/2 oz lillet blanc
I generally use a blend of London Dry and American gin (I do the same when making a dry martini). I also usually scale back the quantities (which is easier when making two), as the above recipe is quite a hefty drink.
According to the good folks at liquor.com, the vesper is the drink desired by James Bond when he orders his "martini, shaken not stirred."

Some of the commentary in that post made me reflect on James Bond, caricature, and the way we think about masculinity, particularly in light of a few other articles I read this week on the topic. It's something I've wanted to explore further for a while now, so keep an eye out for a blog post in the coming week or two.
