Oh guess what we got this weekend! Woohoo! All the intensive efforts hand-watering, sun screen cloth and jasmine fertilizer have paid off. First blooms this year. There are so many clusters of tiny buds I think we will have even more blooms today. The scent is heavenly. And from the photo you can see I did go ahead and get the blue herons! #Backyard #Jasmine #Vines #Flowers

You can see the leafy green vine is filled with many branches, green oblong leaves and tiny white flowers. We are training the vines to grow up the arbor and start to grow across the arbor. This is in front of a gray cement block wall. Under the arbor there is a 3 shelf white rack with small potted plants.

The day is done. Made a reasonable dent in the mountain. Raised the level of about half of the driveway. Tomorrow I will measure the fabric for the car tracks and put down another 2 loads of dirt to bring it to the edge of the tracks.

Then we'll need to wait until a weekday when I am home to go get sand, gravel, and top soil.

Maybe Ill go to the stone shop next week and grab the flagstones for the path. 🤔

Then we will move to the backyard again and start on plumbing for the poolpond!

Excited for the additions! Bought an Italian plum to replace the old and dying Italian plum on our neighbour’s side. And bought another Northern Spy 🍏 to plant in the front in place of an aged hydrangea.

This will complete the complement of 3 apple trees in the front yard! Yay! (2 northern spy semi dwarf, 1 blushing delight columnar visible in the previous post beside the little dump truck) and start the fruit tree complement in the back to go with the well established hazelnut tree. I want at least 2 more fruit trees in the back. Possibly four.

Morning shift of #OperationMoveDirtMountain is complete. Good progress was made. The new level in the front driveway was marked and is being extended.

This is essentially just horrible and sticky clay but it will have to do as a base to bring the front driveway up to a better height sloping less toward the house and in general.

The two gravel tracks for the car will be kept and deepened/solidified while a number of flat stones will provide walking paths from each side of the car to the sidewalk or backyard.

There are 14,387,941 jackrabbit poops in this front yard. [1]

Have I said that we get a lot of jackrabbits [2] in the yard in the winter here? Prairie life.

[1] Approximately.
[2] White-tailed jackrabbit, which is actually a hare, not a rabbit at all. AKA prairie hare.

1. Finished my spring brush cleanup in the #backyard before the start of tick season.

2. After several days of moving brush and fallen branches to a central location for chipping, my muscles are sore but thanks to Arnika & Advil, I feel better than expected. I guess exercising regularly over the winter helped.

3. Called my accountant with a few tax questions and got right through to him on my first try. No callback or telephone tag necessary.
